Xiyne Gallery privacy policy

Xiyne Gallery ("the app") is a photo search app that runs entirely on your phone. We take your privacy seriously; this policy explains how the app handles your information.

1. We collect no personal information

Everything the app does happens on your phone. The app does not request internet access, never uploads your photos, searches or any other data to a server, and shares nothing with third parties. It contains no ads and no third-party analytics or tracking.

2. What the app accesses and why

1) Photos and images: to build a search index on your device so you can search your gallery with words or with a picture.

2) Photo location data: the app reads where a photo says it was taken (from the photo file; never the phone's live location), only on your device, to show the place, to search by place and to group photos by place. Place names come from an offline table inside the app; nothing is looked up online. Only when you tap a photo's place and choose a map app to see it in are that photo's coordinates handed to the map app you chose.

3. Data kept on your phone

1) Search index: image features computed from your photos, used for searching.

2) People recognition (optional, off by default): when turned on, the app detects faces in your photos on your device and groups them by person; names you give people are also kept only on your device. Face features are biometric information; they are used only to group photos on your phone and never leave it. You can turn this off at any time in Settings.

3) Text recognition (optional, off by default): when turned on, the app reads text in your images on your device so you can search for it.

4) Private album (optional): photos and videos you move into it are stored encrypted in the app's private storage and are shown only after you unlock the album.

5) App lock (optional, off by default): when turned on, your phone's system checks your fingerprint, face or screen lock when the app opens. The check is done entirely by the system; the app learns only whether it passed, and never sees or stores your fingerprint, face data or screen lock.

6) Recycle bin: photos and videos you delete in the app are kept in the app's private storage for a limited time, then deleted for good.

7) Crash log: if the app closes unexpectedly, it writes down where the code failed, the app version and your phone model, without any photo or file name. It is not sent anywhere; it leaves your phone only if you choose to include it when you send us feedback by email, and you can delete it there.

All of this data is stored in the app's private storage. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in system settings, deletes all of it, including anything still in the private album or the recycle bin: export a backup or move those items out first.

4. Payments

If you subscribe to membership or buy lifetime membership, payment, renewal and cancellation are handled by Google Play; the app never sees your payment details. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it, which you can do at any time in Google Play.

5. Children

The app is not designed for children and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

6. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page in an app update.
